Cleveland Cavaliers’ all-star point guard Kyrie Irving suffered an ankle injury and is in a walking boot. There has been speculation that Kyrie Irving’s injury history could be a cause for concern for the Cavaliers.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Earlier in the week, Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard Kyrie Irving was spotted in a walking boot. Because of his injury history (he has missed 49 games in three seasons), some are worried about his future and  how it will influence the Cavaliers’ ability to take home an NBA title.

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders believes Kyrie Irving’s latest injury is a cause for concern.

"It’s definitely concerning, because he’s obviously going to be a big part of this Cleveland team. And as much as I like Matthew Dellavedova as a role player and backup, I don’t think he’s ready to fill in as the starting point guard long-term if Kyrie Irving goes down. It’s unfortunate that Cleveland doesn’t have a veteran behind Irving, in case of injury. Hopefully Irving can stay healthy though and this doesn’t become an issue."

Obviously, the Cavaliers are going to need Kyrie Irving if they plan on winning a title this season (and they do), but it’s too early to panic over what appears to be a very minor injury.

Of course, Kyrie Irving told us himself we have nothing to worry about.

Irving put up 20.8 points, 6.1 assists, 3. rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 43.0% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 86.1% from the free throw line. In his three-year career, he’s gone for 20.7 points, 5.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 44.7% from the floor, 37.8% from three and 86.2% from the charity stripe.
