Jimmer Fredette making early impact for Pelicans

Jimmer Fredette is making early impact for the New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans signed guard Jimmer Fredette this past offseason, giving him another chance to prove that he is not the bust that many think he is after the rough start he has had in his career. Fredette was one of the most prolific scorers that college basketball has ever seen, but that has not transferred over to the NBA. With that being said, Fredette has been playing extremely well through his first three preseason games with the Pelicans.

Fredette has scored 17 points, 10 points, and 13 points in those three games respectively, and has looked much more comfortable being a scorer.
He spoke to Fox Sports about what has been helping him take the next step and be a more consistent scorer than he has been throughout his career.
“Consistency of playing time. Every single game, I’ve been able to get into the flow of the game, play a little bit. That really helps a player, knowing when they’re going to go in the game, and what they need to do when they get in there, what to expect.”
Needless to say, Fredette’s name will be one to keep an eye on this season if he continues getting these type of minutes during the regular season. The Pelicans needed someone to come in and replace the perimeter shooting that Anthony Morrow had provided and that is one area that Fredette can definitely help. If the Pelicans do continue giving him playing time, they will likely receive the same type of Fredette that we have seen during the preseason.
Through his three-year NBA career so far, Fredette has only seen 14.6 minutes per game, and has averaged 6.9 points. He wasn’t used properly in Sacramento with the Kings and the Chicago Bulls didn’t give him much of a chance either. New Orleans has decided to take a gamble, and they could very well be getting a major surprise.
Expect to see a very interesting season in New Orleans on the Fredette front, and to see him begin to resurrect his NBA career.
