LeBron James is looking forward to seeing his former Miami Heat teammates

Perhaps LeBron James is on better terms with his former Miami Heat teammates than previously thought.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

James, now a Cleveland Cavalier, said on Thursday that he is looking forward to taking on the Heat this Saturday in a preseason matchup.

If James is truly comfortable around the Heat as he suggests he will be, that would be quite the difference from how he felt around the team’s management at Dwyane Wade’s wedding, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

"James later told friends that having to share the same room with Heat president Pat Riley was uncomfortable that night. It stands to reason it was probably hard to make eye contact with Heat owner Micky Arison or coach Erik Spoelstra as well."

Surely, all eyes will be on how James embraces his ex-teammates at the game Saturday.  Much has been made about the lack of communication between James and Chris Bosh in the buildup to Saturday’s contest. Bosh said he hasn’t spoken to LeBron since he left the Heat this offseason outside of Wade’s wedding, according to Windhorst.

But maybe LeBron calling the reunion “special” will make things a little less awkward when the Cavs and Heat take the court.

James averaged 27.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game this past season with the Heat. In his four years with the Heat, James led Miami to four NBA Finals appearances and two titles.
