Marcus Lattimore ready to play for 49ers
By Evan Massey
The San Francisco 49ers know that Frank Gore doesn’t have too much longer playing at the level that he has throughout his career, and they are very comfortable with both Carlos Hyde and Marcus Lattimore in the future. Lattimore was formerly thought of as a potential NFL superstar, but he is coming off of his second traumatic knee injury of his career. That being said, he appears to be ready to play, and is eligible to come off of the injured list on Tuesday.
Lattimore carried the football 555 times for 2,677 yards and 38 touchdowns during his career at South Carolina, and was one of the nation’s most dominant offensive threats. He showed the potential to be a legitimate workhorse running back, and still has that potential if he is at 100 percent health. The 49ers may very well have their next long-term starter at running back joining their roster in the near future.

It’s going to be good to see Lattimore step foot on an NFL field as a potential difference maker for the first time. Having to go through two major knee injuries like he has, has been very difficult to watch. That being said, it has brought quite a few fans together in support of him being a success in the NFL.
Needless to say, the 49ers have some decisions to make about when they want to put him out there on the gridiron. They already have a fairly nice system with both Gore and Hyde playing together, but adding Lattimore in could be extremely dangerous as well. San Francisco knows that they could have a future star in Lattimore, and they will want to get him some playing time if at all possible.
Expect to see Lattimore get some sort of playing time this season, and he might even get into the rotation in the next few weeks. The 49ers are still very excited about what he can bring to the table in the future, but they need to make sure that he is 100 percent ready to play before they put him on the field.
