Keys to Victory
These are not the same San Francisco 49ers that we have seen over the last couple seasons. They do not boast the same stingy defense that they have been known for. Meanwhile, their offensive philosophy tends to waver between a few different approaches, with Kaepernick chucking the ball around the yard in certain games.
Will the 49ers establish the run with Frank Gore in this game? They are 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards per game this season, so if they do, it will spell trouble for the Rams.
As for the Rams, quarterback Austin Davis has provided a boost to their offense. They have been competitive in a number of games with Davis at the helm.
They might be able to move the ball in this game, but what is going on with their defense? The Rams are 30th in the NFL at 29.8 points allowed per game, and their once-mighty pass rush is nowhere to be found. St. Louis is last in the entire NFL with exactly 1.0 sack this season.
Betting Odds
Point Spread: 49ers -3
Moneyline: 49ers -175, Rams +155
O/U: 43.5
Prediction
The 49ers are in a weird place right now. They feel like a team without an identity and their coach is supposedly on his way out. Even still, they have so much talent on both sides of the ball that they will still win plenty of games this season. The Rams will simply be over-matched by the 49ers in this game, even if they keep the score close for a while. Look for Kaepernick to have a nice game running and throwing the ball.
Final Score: 49ers 28, Rams 20
