When Matt Cassel went down with a foot injury and rookie Teddy Bridgewater got his chance to lead the Minnesota Vikings for the first time he didn’t disappoint. He looked impressive in his NFL debut but unfortunately was also hit with an injury that ultimately kept him out of Thursday night’s game in which the Vikings got demolished by the Green Bay Packers.

Now Teddy is in a position to come back and play this week against the Detroit Lions. When asked about his health Bridgewater had this to say to the Minneapolis Star Tribune:

"“I’ve been able to spend a bunch of time in the training room since we got back from Green Bay, so the ankle is feeling good and I’m excited to get back out there for this weekend,” Bridgewater said. “On Sunday I’ll be able to just play full speed.”"

Sounds like Teddy will be good to go once Sunday rolls around barring any unforeseen setbacks this week during practice. Simply put the Vikings need Bridgewater out there on the field and maybe even more importantly they need him to be fully healthy.

If Bridgewater can go all out and full speed against Detroit the Vikings have a fighting chance, where as with Christian Ponder at the helm they quite frankly would be doomed. With Adrian Peterson still away from the field the pressure will all fall on Bridgewater’s shoulders and win or lose all eyes will be on him this Sunday.
