The Dallas Cowboys, America’s team, are historically one of, if not the best franchise in NFL history. They’ve had 11 Hall-of-Famers including Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders, Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Michael Irvin but Tony Romo thinks that he best Dallas Cowboy ever is tight end Jason Witten.

According to ESPN Dallas, in a conference call with Seattle media on Wednesday led Romo to expressing his love for Jason Witten.

"“He might be the best Dallas Cowboy of all-time. Literally, his career has been exceptional. He’s hit every mark you could ever have and he’s going to go down as the first- or second-greatest tight end of all-time. I’ve just been lucky enough to play with him.”"

Romo clearly has a reason to love Jason Witten. He has 9,894 total receiving yards, third most all-time, since he’s been playing since 2003. Witten, just 32, has plenty of time left to catch up to Tony Gonzalez (15,127 yards) and Shannon Sharpe (10,060 yards). Jason Witten has played in 178 career games and has 52 touchdowns and 889 receptions.

While Jason Witten is definitely one of the greatest tight ends ever and one of the best Cowboys, a definite future Hall of Famer, I wouldn’t quite say that he’s the “best Dallas Cowboy of all-time.” Not with Emmitt Smith, Aikman, Irvin, Sanders and Staubach on that list. However, Jason Witten still has plenty of time to prove himself as the top Dallas Cowboy, but he also doesn’t have a Super Bowl ring. When he gets a couple, let me know, but he’s definitely making a case for the best ever Dallas tight end.
