WWE rumors: Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar penciled in for WrestleMania 31

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar still looks like the WrestleMania 31 main event

More from WWE

There is still a long way to go until we can even remotely begin to see how WrestleMania 31 is shaping up, but one thing we have known for quite some time is that Roman Reigns is set up to be put into a pretty prominent spot against Brock Lesnar.

The plan all along has been to build up Reigns as the top babyface in the company, leading up to an eventual match on the biggest stage of them all, where he will finally be the one to take down the Beast. Despite the recent setback that he has suffered with the hernia, that appears to still be the plan going forward.

According to a report from Wrestling Rumors, citing the Wrestling Observer, the penciled-in main event at the moment will indeed see Reigns square off against everyone’s favorite part-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar.

"Currently, Roman Reigns is looked at backstage as the “next big thing” of this generation and is primed to win the 40-man Royal Rumble Match on Jan. 25. He would then go on to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 31. If creative’s current plan comes to fruition, Reigns will dethrone Lesnar on March 29 and begin a new era as champion. Lesnar will then contractually free from WWE, and he may return to UFC, according to reports."

Given the way that Lesnar has been booked this year, this would be the ultimate rub for Reigns and would be a good way to kickoff his era. Now whether or not his era will hold any sort of significance after that, well, that’s up to the creative team.
