New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram is still wearing a cast on his hand after fracturing his thumb earlier in the season, but he doesn’t think that will keep him from returning to the field after the team’s bye in Week 6.
Ingram revealed on Sirius XM NFL Radio that he’s hoping to return for the team’s Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions.

Mark Ingram had finally solidified himself as the go-to starter for the Saints before his injury. He had 143 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns on 24 attempts by the time he was injured in the team’s second regular season game against the Cleveland Browns.
Ingram frustrated the Saints with three seasons of slow, inconsistent play, but finally appeared to be getting everything together in 2014 until he fractured his thumb.
Now with the Saints floundering at 2-3 entering the Week 6 bye, the team needs every good skill player it can get as they gear up for a recovery in the NFC South.
Fortunately for New Orleans, no one else in the division is stepping up too much to take things over.
There’s plenty of time to make a run and Mark Ingram could be a big piece of that mid-season revival.
