The Dallas Cowboys have a well-rounded offense that has help fueled them to a 4-1 record so far through the season. The Cowboys are flooded with weapons on offense from running back DeMarco Murray, wide receiver Dez Bryant and the always reliable tight end Jason Witten.

More from Dallas Cowboys

So far throughout his career, Witten has nine Pro Bowls, 898 receptions for 10,014 yards and 52 touchdowns in 12 seasons and Witten has established himself as one of the best tight ends the league has ever seen.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is amongst Witten’s best friends, so his praise could stem from that personal relationship. Thought it isn’t necessarily hard to disagree with Romo when he suggests that Romo is the greatest Cowboy of all time.

“[Jason] Witten’s just the best,” Romo said, via Fox Sports. “He might be the best Dallas Cowboy of all time. Literally, his career has been exceptional. He’s hit every mark you could ever have. He’s going to go on as the first or second greatest tight end of all time. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to play with him.”

Of course there is a long and extensive list of players on that list that Witten would have to beat out for that title, and it certainly isn’t a clear-cut case. You have the trio of Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith who won three Super Bowls in the 90s. Smith also set the NFL career rushing record.

But I think it is safe to say Witten’s name will be joining 18 others in the Ring of Honor and 11 other Cowboys in the Hall of Fame.
