Bud Norris will start Game 2 of the ALCS for the Baltimore Orioles after his team dropped Game 1 against the Kansas City Royals on Friday night.

Both the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals emptied the cupboards in their efforts to pull out a victory in a tight and exciting Game 1 of the ALCS on Friday night.

“Worry about tomorrow when it gets here,” or so the thinking goes. Use whatever resources you can to get a huge win to open the series.

Well, tomorrow is here, and for the Baltimore Orioles, they have to scramble to put themselves in a position to earn a split at home after dropping Game 1 in extra innings thanks to a couple heroic home runs from the Royals.

Like they did for the clinching game of the ALDS, the Orioles will once again turn to Bud Norris as their starting pitcher in a key game.

Norris was outstanding in his ALDS outing as the Orioles eliminated the Detroit Tigers, going 6.1 innings while allowing just two hits, no runs, and striking out six. When you watch Norris pitch, he strikes you as a gamer, insomuch as that is actually a thing and a thing that makes any difference.

The Orioles had to piece together a big chunk of Game 1 with their bullpen thanks to the fact that Chris Tillman was unable to make it out of the 5th inning due to issues with his command.

Philosophically, Buck Showalter understands the need to turn to your bullpen quickly in the postseason as well as any manager. It will be interesting to see how he treats that issue in Game 2 with Norris on the mound and after such a long night on Friday.
