ESPN’s

College Gameday

is traditionally a light-hearted show, and often brings in random celebrities to make guest picks on the day’s slate of games. On Saturday, Philadelphia Phillies’ Jonathan Paplebon and an alumni of Mississippi State, where he was the closer for the Bulldogs baseball team, joined the Gameday cast to make his picks.

Paplebon apparently spent all the free time he had not playing postseason baseball by coming up with his outfit for today:

Well, that’s certainly one way to look on a Saturday morning before a football game. Paplebon pretty much kept that stogie on hand the entire time, too, even while making his picks on camera:

Quite the assortment for Paplebon, who had his best year yet with the Phillies in 2014, though it ended on a sour note when he was suspended for allegedly making an obscene gesture to fans after blowing a save. Apparently that seven-game paycheck affected his fashion budget. The future will tell if Paplebon has a potential career in football analysis, but for now, he should probably make sure he’s ready for the 2015 season.
