LeBron James and Chris Bosh might not be talking, but the former Miami Heat teammates are dunking in a preseason game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Heat in Rio de Janeiro.
Chris Bosh made some news earlier this week when he said he and former teammate LeBron James hadn’t talked since James took his talents away from South Beach and returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
So it was with much ballyhoo and anticipation that the Cavs and Heat tipped it off in a preseason game in Rio de Janeiro Saturday.
Alas, there were no soap-operaesque displays before the game. Instead James hugged Dwyane Wade and Bosh and they seem to be going out of their way to avoid any indication that things are awkward, weird or otherwise strange.
But in the first quarter of the game, James fired first by leaking out on a fast break and throwing down a dunk off a feed from Matthew Dellavedova.
Moments later, Wade and Bosh teamed up to put a pair of points on the board for Miami courtesy of a two-handed jam from Bosh.
If anyone is taking bets on what will be the most overblown story line of the NBA season, you might be advised to take some action on the whole LeBron-guys he left behind in Miami angle.
Their union in 2010 was beaten to death by the media until it dropped deal from being beaten to death until it died, so it makes sense that their split will receive similar treatment.
The one question still left unresolved after James’ return to the “Land” is this: Did King James consult Brian Windhorst about a potential move?
