Rakeem Cato joined elite company on Saturday in Marshall’s win over Middle Tennessee State with a touchdown pass in the second quarter

Marshall Thundering Herd quarterback Rakeem Cato may not get the same type of hype and attention as some Power 5 quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, Dak Prescott or Brett Hundley, but he should for his tremendous production and consistency.

Cato tied former North Carolina State and Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson with 38 straight games with a touchdown pass when he found Craig Wilkins for a 26-yard touchdown in the second quarter to give Marshall a 21-7 lead.

Here’s a photo of the football thrown by Cato to tie the record.

Here’s a list of the names Cato passed en route to the record.

Cato will look to break the record next week against Florida International as Marshall looks to improve to 7-0 on the season. Cato has 1,321 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season for the Thundering Herd and I wonder if they keep winning if he’ll get some more recognition for what he’s done at Marshall.

Oregon’s Mariota is second on the active list with a touchdown pass in 32 straight games.
