New York Jets general manager John Idzik seems to know what he wants to do with the future of the team, and part of that doesn’t include spending big on free agency.
The New York Jets are not going anywhere fact this season, and that’s leading to speculation about what the team will do in the offseason to improve. One strategy that fans have come up with is to spend the team’s way out of the funk they’re in.

Perhaps the biggest name set to hit the market at the moment is Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant. The Cowboys will likely be able to work something out with Bryant before he hits the market but Jets fans will look at the receiver as a possible option.
According to Rich Cimini from ESPN New York, the Jets aren’t likely to pursue a top free agent again this offseason, which means if Dez Bryant somehow hits the market, New York won’t be an option.
"I can’t see Idzik giving the top-of-the-market contract to one player, especially after giving Eric Decker a big deal. He has to do something at receiver, though, because all he has under contract in ’15 are Decker and young kids. And let me tell you, Shaq Evans and Quincy Enunwa aren’t short-term answers."
If Idzik keeps his job at the end of the season — which is far more likely than it is for Rex Ryan — then he’ll continue to try and build through the draft. His value went up significantly when the Seahawks team he helped build through the draft won the Super Bowl, and while making big signings like that of Dez Bryant are a nice idea, it’s not something the team is likely to pursue.
