New York Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg has avoided scrutiny so far this season after a horrid start, but the backlash could start to catch up to him.
Geno Smith is the future at quarterback for the New York Jets, and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg has a lot to do with the development of the Jets future. But so far, it’s been a rough start for Smith and that’s not yet blown back on the coaching staff.

According to Rich Cimini form ESPN New York, the Jets offensive coordinator could be on the hot seat if Geno Smith doesn’t start to come around in his development.
"Mornhinweg isn’t getting ripped (yet) because of the other controversies surrounding the team. I think Mornhinweg is a solid coordinator, but eight touchdowns in five games? That stinks. Funny, but it started going south right around the timeout fiasco in Week 2. It all starts with Geno Smith. Mornhinweg will be measured by Smith’s progress — or lack thereof — and the young quarterback has regressed."
The Jets need to start winning to save more jobs than just Mornhinweg in New York. Rex Ryan will be the first name to go, but if Smith can’t develop then his staff is going to be gone with him. Geno Smith has potential, and a lot of his downfall has been on him, but the staff needs to coach him up and that’s not been happening lately.
It looks like a lot of change is going to come to the Jets this offseason and while Smith is a culprit in what is going wrong, the onus doesn’t fall only on him.
