Fresh off the Ole Miss victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide for the first time in more than a decade, the Rebels soared to No. 3 in the top 25 polls this week in advance of their Week 7 game against the No. 14 Texas A&M Aggies who are reeling after a blowout loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs last weekend. With both teams on opposite ends of the emotional spectrum this should be an interesting SEC showdown from Kyle Field in College Station.

Throughout the game on Saturday evening this post will be updated to reflect scoring changes, video’s and gif’s as Bo Wallace finds Laquon Treadwell, Cody Core, Evan Engram, Jaylen Walton and company against an Aggies defense who just gave up 48 points to Dak Prescott and Mississippi State. Compared to the stout defense of Alabama the Rebels scored 23 points against last week, including two late touchdowns, the Aggies defense shouldn’t present as much of a challenge for Ole Miss.
The Rebels need to avoid the emotional let down as they hit the road game and avoid falling down early to Kenny Hill and the Aggies who are capable of scoring points in bunches. If Ole Miss comes out with the defensive intensity they have showed all season, especially in the second half against Alabama and Wallace continues to make smart decisions, the Rebels will be in good shape to improve to 6-0 and 3-0 in the SEC.
However, real fireworks will take place when Robert Nkemdiche, Cody Prewitt, Tony Conner and the Rebel defense are on the field against Hill, Speedy Noil, Malcome Kennedy, Ricky Seals-Jones and the high-powered Texas A&M offense. Texas A&M was highly ineffective against Mississippi State after their opening drive resulted in a touchdown, outside of two late touchdowns, the Aggies only 10 points the middle 50 minutes of the game where the Bulldogs exerted their will on both sides of the ball.
The Aggies face the No. 2 scoring defense in the nation one week after their receivers dropped nine passes and the Rebels’ bitter rival may have found the blue print to defend against Hill and this offense. Last week’s game could have been a lot different had Hill’s receivers held on to the ball. It may sound simple, but as long as they catch the ball, they will sustain longer drives and keep the home crowd in the game.
