The Broncos put the first points on the board with a field goal, but it was the Jets that got the game’s first touchdown. Jets quarterback Geno Smith threw a 2-yard score to Jace Amaro to put New York up 7-3 with 4:16 remaining in the opening quarter.

However, Denver would respond with two second quarter touchdowns. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning found Demaryius Thomas for a 1-yard score and Julius Thomas for a 22-yard touchdown in the game’s second frame to allow Denver to enter the half up 17-7.

Manning found Julius Thomas again for a 4-yard score early in the third, but New York would soon mount a comeback.

A third quarter field goal and a 2-yard touchdown pass from Smith to former Bronco Eric Decker cut the deficit to 24-17 with 7:56 remaining.

Unfortunately for Rex Ryan and Co., Smith would throw a pick-six to Aqib Talib late in the game to ice the win for Denver.

Manning finished the game 22-33 for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman rushed for 100 yards and Demaryius Thomas had 124 receiving yards.

On the other side, Smith was 22-43 for 183 yards for two touchdowns and one interception. Smith was also the team’s top rusher with just 11 yards and Amaro the team’s top pass-catcher with 61 yards.

The Broncos will face the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday at home. New York will play the New England Patriots Thursday on the road.
