Sure, it was only one yard, but this could be just the first in a series of highlights for Storm Johnson. The Titans are allowing an average of almost 140 yards per game to opposing running backs.
Johnson, a seventh round pick out of Central Florida this year, saw his first NFL action last week after starter Toby Gerhart sprained his foot and was forced from the game. He carried four times for 27 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Gerhart is still nursing the sprained foot, so Johnson got the start over Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson. Johnson already has six carries six minutes into the game to Todman’s one. Robinson has yet to touch the ball.
It still seems that he has a rapport with his college quarterback, Blake Bortles. The UCF connection is paying dividends early for the Jaguars as they own an early 7-0 lead on Tennessee.
