New York Jets’ cornerback Dee Milliner is out for the season due to a torn Achilles.

More from New York Jets

The New York Jets suffered a huge loss when they learned that Dee Milliner will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Achilles. He has only played in three games so far this season, but will be missed throughout the rest of the season. New York has been a major disappointment this season, and they simply haven’t looked very competitive at all.

At 1-5, the Jets are looking at being knocked out of playoff contention in the next couple of weeks if they can’t turn things around. Milliner was selected by the Jets with the ninth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, and ended up with three interceptions and 17 defenses passes last year as a rookie. He only had six tackles and two defenses passes this year in three games.

Obviously losing a young player to a bad injury is not good news, but the Jets’ defense has actually been playing fairly well all season long. The recovery period for a torn Achilles is likely going to be six to nine months, which will have him back in time to start next season. He’s a young player, which will also help that recovery time come down a bit.

New York’s defense is currently ranked 15th in the NFL against he pass, and they are the eighth best defense against the run. Needless to say, losing Milliner will end up hurting the team in the long run. Hopefully he recovers quickly and is back at full strength for training camp next season.
