Caldwell-Pope, the eighth overall pick by Detroit in the 2013 draft, is battling free-agent acquisition Jodie Meeks for the starting shooting guard spot. He had scored 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting in 24 minutes before he was hurt Sunday.
Meeks, meanwhile, missed the game Sunday with back spasms.
Caldwell-Pope was the SEC player of the year while at Georgia in 2012-13 and experienced an up-and-down rookie season.
In 80 games, 41 of which he started, Caldwell-Pope averaged 5.9 points and two rebounds in 19.8 minutes per game, shooting .396/.319/.770.
Meeks is coming off his best statistical season. He averaged 15.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 steals in 33.2 minutes per game for the Lakers last season, shooting .463/.401/.857. He signed a three-year, $19 million contract with the Pistons at the beginning of free agency in July.
Meeks is entering his sixth season and has also spent time with the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers.
