Detroit Tigers fans want to see the team bounce back in 2015, and re-signing Victor Martinez may be a big part of that.
Victor Martinez has been around the American League in his career, bouncing from the Cleveland Indians to the Boston Red Sox and now the Detroit Tigers. But he’s looking to find a place the fourth time around that affords him a chance to win and that may require not moving at all this winter.

Martinez is slated to hit free agency this offseason, and there is already talk about the Tigers locking up their slugger for the long term. It may not be a massive contract, but the Tigers and Martinez seem like a natural fit to remain together.
According to Boston Globe reporter Nick Cafardo, the Detroit Tigers appear as though they will be able to re-sign Victor Martinez this offeason.
"This may not be a J.J. Hardy situation where he signs before free agency. But we do know this, according to a major league source familiar with Martinez: He prefers to work something out with the Tigers, so they will get first crack at him. If he elects free agency, comfort of the workplace will be extremely important."
If comfort and familiarity is what Martinez is looking for, then there seems to be no better option for him than in Detroit.
He could test free agent waters though if he truly wants to cash in as teams like the Rangers, Yankees and Mariners figure to be spenders on the DH market this winter. Still, the Tigers are the best place for Martinez but they may have to tie their money up elsewhere and skip out on bringing him back in 2015.
