But Shumpert’s signing during Melo’s post-game media session wasn’t just a coincidence. The 24-year-old, hilariously, was singing “Happy” as a means to make fun of Carmelo’s hat.

Pharrell, as Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal noted, is well known for wearing interesting hats, which explains Shumpert’s song choice.
This is so well played by Shumpert and Melo’s total non-reaction to the singing makes it even better. He appears to be completely oblivious to Shumpert’s hijinks.
Shumpert averaged 6.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game this past season. Carmelo averaged 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. The Knicks won 37-45 and fell short of the postseason.
