The San Francisco Giants are looking at an offseason where they will continue to grow in-house talent and re-sign those who need to be. That’s the way the Giants have always rolled so it comes as no surprise that their interest level in Jake Peavy is on the rise.

Jake Peavy was acquired at the trade deadline from the Boston Red Sox and since then he’s been a vital part of this postseason run for San Francisco.

According to Boston Globe reporter Nick Cafardo, Jake Peavy seems to be in line for a bigger contract this offseason than he was before being traded to the Giants.

"Peavy has gone from getting a minimal contract in free agency to a possible three-year deal. The Giants are interested in re-signing him because they need him, and manager Bruce Bochy has pushed the right buttons with him. The National League agrees with Peavy, who is only 33. And he appears to be enjoying being back with Bochy, his manager during his glory years in San Diego."

Had Peavy remained with the Red Sox, who are out of the postseason and never made the chase downt he stretch, then he likely wouldn’t be viewed in the light he is right now. But thanks to his value to the Giants, Jake Peavy is going to secure a decent contract in the winter, and the Giants will likely be the team that gives it to him when all is said and done.
