Kansas City Royals’ Jarrod Dyson: ALCS won’t return to Baltimore
By Ed Carroll
Kansas City Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson said with the Royals holding a 2-0 lead, he doesn’t expect to return to Camden Yards to face the Baltimore Orioles in a potential game six, and he doesn’t think the Orioles expect to return, either.
The MLB playoffs are one of the few times in baseball where “bulletin board material” gets thrown around, and with his Kansas City Royals leading the series, 2-0, outfielder Jarrod Dyson said he doesn’t expect to return to Camden Yards — home of the Baltimore Orioles — for a potential Game Six, as Games Three, Four and Five will be at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

Dyson, a fourth outfielder for the Royals known for his speed and defense, spoke to reporters in the Royals clubhouse during a workout on Sunday, and was asked by Andy McCullough, Royals beat writer for the Kansas City Star, if he expected to return to Camden Yards for a potential sixth game, and Dyson said plainly, “No sir, I don’t, and I don’t think [the Orioles] think that, either.”
“I’ll just tell you this, man,” Dyson said. “If we win Game Three, it’s going to be hard for them to sit there and look themselves in the mirror and say, ‘We can win the next four.’ That’s tough to do, man. Everything must click. I’m just being honest.”
Though a 2-0 lead is not insurmountable for the best-of-seven series, history supports Dyson’s claim: per ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick, since the League Championship expanded to its current format in 1985, 11 teams have won the first two games on the road as the Royals have this year. Not one of those 11 teams ended up losing the series.
Game Three of the ALCS begins tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO.
