Last season, Pierce was traded to the Brooklyn Nets and his team was bounced in the second round by Lebron James and the Miami Heat. Overall, Pierce had a sluggish season, but he had some vintage moments. In the first game of the first round, Pierce scored 8 points in the final 2 minutes for the Nets and after his game sealing jumper over Patrick Patterson, Pierce screamed ‘That’s why they got me here.’
Pierce also blocked Kyle Lowry’s floater to end game 7 in their first round series against the Toronto Raptors and send Brooklyn to the second round. Pierce started to love Brooklyn and he was hoping to stay there for one or two more seasons to end his career. That all changed when the Nets decided not to offer Pierce a contract and in turn, Pierce signed with the Washington Wizards.
Pierce is looking to step up and help the Wizards be successful next season. Pierce’s time is running out and the goal for him is to win a second championship before he retires. With John Wall and Bradley Beal on his team, Pierce’s best opportunity to win a title may be in Washington.
