The offensive line for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was not very good on Sunday

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are very, very bad and it starts with a brutal offensive line that hardly gives its unit a chance to set up, let alone sustain an offense long enough to keep its defense rested. This explains why the Buccaneers have now trailed 35-0 in the first half on two separate occasions in the 2014 regular season. Its latest debacle against the Baltimore Ravens was rated as the worst offensive line performance in five years.

ESPN’s Pat Yasinkas writes that, “[QB Mike] Glennon was sacked or put under pressure on 26 of his 49 dropbacks. That’s 63 percent. That’s the highest pressure percentage of any quarterback with 40 dropbacks in the last five years.”

Glennon was sacked five times in the loss, which was out of hand by halftime when the Ravens led 38-0. The Buccaneers lost the game 48-17, which wasn’t even their worst loss of the year. The offensive line was run roughshod against the Atlanta Falcons as well in a 56-14 loss.

Making things even worse for the hapless Buccaneers is their defense, which ranks near the bottom of the league in every major category.

At 1-5, the Buccaneers can already kiss their 2014 season goodbye, but it’s especially disappointing to see an offensive line that management thought it had addressed in the last couple offseasons look like such a mangy mess. The team will once again have to figure out what it can do to keep its quarterback standing long enough to at least make games competitive in the future.
