In probably the most exciting finish of the college football games on Saturday, the Baylor Bears defeated the TCU Horned Frogs in a battle of two Top 10 Big 12 teams, 61-58, as time expired. However, the first loss of the season might not have been the worst thing to happen to head coach Gary Patterson on Saturday.

While speaking about the loss after the game, Patterson stated that there was an incident amid all of the hoopla in which he felt threatened by a Baylor player that was not named. Apparently after the game, the Baylor player followed Patterson and started berating him until a TCU assistant coach stepped in.

“I’m not going into all that. It was disappointing. Coach Bennett was the one who broke it up. You can ask him,” Patterson said of the incident.

It all centered around Patterson’s rant following the team’s close loss to the Bears last season, a rant that the Baylor player apparently did not forget about and wanted the opposing coach to know that.

However, Patterson also noted that he did apologize to Baylor coach Art Briles about the rant from last season.

“I always call it how I see it, good or bad, but I wanted to make sure I waited a year till I got to this point where it was in the heat of battle to make sure I told him how I felt about the situation,” Patterson said.
