Vikings Mike Zimmer Threatens Team
The Minnesota Vikings looked awful on offense during a loss to the Lions Sunday. Head coach Mike Zimmer has now put the team on notice.
Sometime threats, or in this case, promises are necessary to get a point across. While the word may carry some unnecessary connotation, Zimmer has definitely put the Minnesota Vikings players on notice. After being visibly upset Sunday, playing time is now going to be taken away if things don’t change.

The Minnesota Vikings took a loss on Sunday to the Detroit Lions, at home, without two of Detroit’s biggest playmakers. The Vikings defense held strong, but the offensive unit, namely the offensive line, looked like they decided to not show up at all.
Rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater didn’t have a chance as he was pressured on more dropbacks (24) than he was not (23).
Zimmer was upset after the game, and he made that known in his post game presser. Today he has come out and said he is going to be handing out consequences for problems that continue to arise.
Starting fullback, Jerome Felton said that Zimmer let the team know of his new stance on Monday. He said, “His biggest thing is like, ‘I’m going to take playing time,’ because that’s what matters to players. That’ll get it solved real quick.”
Zimmer was quoted on Sunday saying that he would, take fines “to the max” in the future as missed meetings and tardiness was an issue the last week.
Minnesota still has a very promising core, and the schedule lets up considerably the next few weeks. If the Vikings want to trend anywhere near .500, wins at both Buffalo and Tampa Bay will need to be in their immediate future. Bridgewater will continue to blossom, and he should look considerably better than Sunday should the offensive line improve at all.
Look for the Vikings to not only hear Zimmer’s message, but to rebound next Sunday as they take on the Buffalo Bills with a 1pm EST kickoff.
