The Pittsburgh Steelers defense has had its struggles in 2014, and the team’s former head coach is calling the unit soft.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher discussed the team’s performance against the Cleveland Browns, when he fired off some shots criticizing the team for losing their toughness.

“I never thought I would say these words,” Cowher said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
He then went on to say that the team “has gotten soft.”
The defense has looked very shaky through the first six weeks of the season and the offense has sputtered at times with questionable play-calling.
To make matters worse for the Steelers and their faithful fans, a former player, Hines Ward, also went after the team — specifically the defense — saying that they were soft.
“They’re very close to hitting that panic button,” Hines ward added. “The defense looks soft. Guys are just able to run the ball up and down the field. I look at their personnel; they can’t cover anybody in the secondary. Offensively, I thought I’d never say it, but the Steelers are a finesse offense right now. I don’t even know who these guys are.”
That is one of the worst labels that you can have as a team, so the Steelers should listen to these comments and start working to turn things around. That includes head coach Mike Tomlin, who could be coaching for his job if things don’t change soon.
