During the offseason, the Houston Rockets unloaded assets in order to pursue a third max free agent to join center Dwight Howard and guard James Harden.
The dealt center Omer Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans, point guard Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers and even lost restricted free agent forward Chandler Parsons to the rival Dallas Mavericks. Then, forward Carmelo Anthony re-signed with the New York Knicks and big man Chris Bosh decided to stay with the Miami Heat. The Rockets wound up signing Washington Wizards’ swingman Trevor Ariza but they certainly lost a lot of depth.
That’s why they will be counting on lesser known players like Tarik Black to fill out their roster and hopefully make a contribution.
In Monday night’s 95-92 preseason win over the Phoenix Suns, Tarik Black eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks, a solid night. He also had a fantastic two-handed block where he simply took the ball out of the air.
