Texas Christian University quarterback Trevone Boykin participated fully in Tuesday’s practice despite rumors that the junior had surgery earlier in the day to repair a left wrist that was apparently injured during last Saturday’s loss at Baylor in what was a class college football game.

Horned Frogs’ coach Gary Patterson said there was no truth to the rumor of Boykin’s surgery and that Boykin is still slated to start for 12th-ranked TCU when they host 15th-ranked Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon.

The story was originally broken via a TCU football blog, which had received word from one of its writers that Boykin had surgery on Tuesday morning and would be out for up to six weeks. Attempts to confirm the news from TCU Sports Information Director Mark Cohen were unsuccessful.

The site then offered an apology shortly after learning that Boykin was indeed healthy.

Boykin has been the triggerman for the nation’s third-highest scoring offense, as the Horned Frogs have averaged 45.8 points per game. TCU is also 12th in the country with 325.2 passing yards per game.

The Dallas native threw for 287 yards and a touchdown in last Saturday’s 61-58 defeat, while rushing for 47 yards on 15 attempts. For the season, Boykin has thrown for 1,463 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 57.7 percent of his passes. He has also accounted for a team-best 305 yards and three touchdowns.

Boykin has led TCU to a 4-1 record, with the highlight coming when the Horned Frogs defeated then fourth-ranked Oklahoma on October 4. Boykin tossed for 318 yards and a pair of touchdowns while running for 77 yards on 22 carries.
