Who are the biggest MLB playoff heroes of the last 20 years?
Playoff success in any sport is what creates “legendary” status, but in the world of Major League Baseball, that is unquestionably true. The romantic nature of the game is undeniable, and the majority of fans, pundits and players alike hold the game in high regard based on the experiences of their youth and idealistic moments in time in which baseball captured the hearts and minds of everyone involved. With that, “heroes” are often associated with the game of baseball, and in the MLB Playoffs, a player’s legacy can be cemented with one single swing of the bat.
In this space, we will take a look at ten of the biggest playoff heroes of the last two decades, and to be honest, this was a difficult list to compile. There are far more than ten players that would arguably be deserving of this honor, as each of the last 20 playoff treks have their own story lines and players who were integral in determining the final result of each World Series. However, this collection of players were often instrumental in bringing multiple titles to their respective teams, and even if that wasn’t the case, perhaps a singular performance triumphed over all in cementing legendary status.
