The New York Giants lost their best wide receiver Victor Cruz for the season and in response they have signed Kevin Ogletree.
The New York Giants had a nightmare of a night on Sunday. Losing an NFL game 27-0 is bad enough, but things got even worse when Pro Bowl wide receiver Victor Cruz went down to the ground, screaming in agony. Cruz tore his patellar tendon and is out for the rest of this season and possibly longer.

The Giants felt that their receiving core could use one more man to fulfill Cruz’s spot and they decided to join former Dallas Cowboy Kevin Ogletree according to Pro Football Talk. In 2012, Ogletree lit up the Giants in their season opener for 8 catches 114 yards and 2 touchdowns. That was about all Ogletree did for the Cowboys. Ogletree had short stints with the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but those didn’t work out.
The Giants are hoping that Ogletree can return back to the guy that they saw in their 2012 season opener with the Cowboys. Ogletree and the Giants are facing the Cowboys on Sunday in a crucial divisional matchup. It would be sweet for Ogletree to light up his old team.
Odell Beckham Jr. vowed to step up in Victor Cruz’s absence, but the Giants took the safe route and signed a free agent to help take some of the load off of Beckham and Rueben Randle. Sunday’s game against the scorching hot Cowboys is a must win for the Giants. Losing two games in a row to divisional foes won’t bode well for a team, so the Giants need to find a way to win.
