The Cleveland Cavaliers are said to be interested in trading for Denver Nuggets’ center Timofey Mozgov but they aren’t the only team that wants to acquire the big man

When the Denver Nuggets lost center JaVale McGee for the season last year, Timofey Mozgov stepped up and played well in his absence.

With JaVale McGee set to return, there has been a lot of speculation the Nuggets could trade Timofey Mozgov for an upgrade elsewhere. The Cleveland Cavaliers, who could use someone to protect the rim have reportedly been very interested in dealing for the big man. There have even been reports they could offer guard Dion Waiters in a deal (which doesn’t make much sense considering the Nuggets acquired guard Arron Afflalo from the Orlando Magic in the offseason). However, the Cavaliers aren’t the only team interested.

According to Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post, there are several other teams interested in Timofey Mozgov.

"It’s unclear whether McGee will be ready for Denver’s season opener Oct. 29 against Detroit, and that has given Mozgov yet another jump-start on gaining a foothold at the position. He ran with that opportunity last season and raised his profile.During the past calendar year, Mozgov arguably has been the Nuggets’ most-coveted trade asset. Teams called last winter and throughout the summer. That’s not likely to change, because with a $4.6 million salary, Mozgov is one of the best bangs for the buck in the NBA.The Nuggets hope that when McGee gets healthy, he will provide a boost in the post too."

Of course, the Nuggets could simply keep Timofey Mozgov and either try to play both bigs or maybe shop the much more expensive JaVale McGee after he proves he’s healthy.

Timofey Mozgov averaged 9.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.3% from the field and 75.4% from the free throw line last season. In his four-year NBA career, Timofey Mozgov has averaged 6.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 51.5% from the floor and 73.9% from the charity stripe.
