The New York Giants just lost Trumaine McBride for the remainder of the season, joining a growing list of injured players.

Just when the New York Giants thought their lack of depth couldn’t be exposed anymore they’ve just received word that their nickel cornerback Trumaine McBride is out for the season after undergoing surgery on his fractured thumb.

In the NFL, injuries are an extremely common occurrence, due to the physical nature of the game. Unfortunately for the Giants, the injury bug has hit them exceptionally hard already this season. Whether it was Odell Beckham Jr’s early knee problems, Victor Cruz’s torn patellar tendon and Walter Thurmond’s torn pectoral muscle, it seems that the Giants team cannot stay healthy.

Trumaine McBride was serving as Thurmond’s replacement as the nickel corner and now he goes down to an injury. Who’s next? It will  either be Jaryon Hosley or newly acquired Chandler Fenner likely taking over the reigns as starter. The nickel cornerback position has been bad luck for the Giants this season and they’re hoping that the injury bug has had enough blue casualties.

The next man has to continue to step up for the Giants. Football is a team game and at times it can also be a cruel game in terms of luck. The Giants have had cruel luck on the injury front so far, but they need to continue to battle and save their season on Sunday against the Cowboys.
