Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mike Williams has been seeking a trade, and head coach Mike Williams isn’t thrilled.

Buffalo Bills receiver Mike Williams wasn’t thrilled about being declared a healthy scratch last week against the New England Patriots. There was a report that wide receiver Mike Williams wanted a trade, though he clarified that it is coming from his agent and not him.

Either way, head coach Doug Marrone isn’t thrilled about the situation, which is working against his “team-first” attitude.

“Yeah, I’m not gonna lie [that it’s annoying]. Absolutely,” Marrone said Wednesday, via ESPN. “Someone else’s problems all of the sudden become my problems.”

His agent has tried to explain that Williams isn’t requesting a trade, but seeking an opportunity to play. Of course Williams is given that opportunity every week in practice if he can perform and earn a starting spot.

“Mike Williams is not requesting a trade. Mike Williams wants to play,” Williams’ agent Hadley Engelhard said Wednesday. “We’re just trying to give Mike an opportunity to play.

“He didn’t want it to come across to his hometown fans that he wants out of there. He doesn’t want out of there. He wants to stay there. He wants to play. But if he’s not going to play there, he wants to play somewhere else.”

The clock is ticking, the NFL’s trade deadline is Oct. 28. Bills General Manager Doug Whaley, who confirmed he granted Williams’ agent permission to seek a trade, said that they’re looking for compensation worthy of a No. 1 receiver, like Williams claims he is.
