All of the focus in college football at the moment mainly centers around Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and the fact that his name is constantly in the headlines anymore for all of the wrong reasons. Well, according to former Heisman winner Bo Jackson, maybe this all could have been prevented if Winston had just listened to his advice.
During an appearance on the Jim Rome Show on Tuesday, Jackson went rather in-depth about how he tried to guide Winston along, but is now a bit upset that his Heisman brother is not taking his advice.
“I really don’t know who is giving this young man guidance. I have communicated with him and I just talked to him like I was his dad. The things that you need to do. And this was before the incident where he was (suspended) from the baseball team (for stealing crab legs),” Jackson said. “I’m the type of person, I will go out of my way to help anybody. Normally, I don’t like giving people advice if I haven’t been down that road myself. But if I give you advice on something that I know more about than you by just falling out of bed in the morning, if you can’t take that advice and learn from it, then I’ve got nothing else to do with the situation. You’re on your own.”
As for what was said during this conversation–well, whatever it was, it was not pretty at all.
“If I told you what I told him, it’ll probably singe the hairs in your ears,” said Jackson.
Should this be the case, then you can’t blame Jackson, one of the greatest college football players of all time, for feeling a bit disrespected. As he said, he won’t just go out of his way for anyone.
