Colin Kaepernick took a shot at the NFL on Instagram for fining him for using inappropriate language.
The NFL reduced its fine of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in half stemming from an incident in Week 2 where the 26-year-old was initially accused of hurling a racial slur at Chicago Bears pass-rusher Lamar Houston.
Upon further investigation, the NFL came to the conclusion that Kaep used a “general profanity” and not a racial slur, which resulted in the reduced fine.
Still, Kaepernick doesn’t appear to pleased with the NFL’s decision. He took to Instagram and posted the following picture with a caption that read “The face you make when the NFL says you didn’t use a racial slur and still fines you $5500? *shrugs* back to my grind! #IDontGetTired #WhoDoYouLove #Se7enPounds.”
While it might not be advisable to complain about a fine on social media, it’s hard to argue with Kaepernick here. The idea of profanity being something that players should get fined for is fairly ridiculous in and of itself. Also, inappropriate language is used on the football field all the time, yet fines are extremely rare.
The player’s union was also not a fan of Kaepernick being fined.
Our union is disappointed that the fine of @Kaepernick7 was not eliminated given the finding there was no racial slur used.
