Per Rex Ryan, Eric Decker is a go against for Thursday Night Football
When the struggling New York Jets take on the New England Patriots on Thursday night, head coach Rex Ryan says Geno Smith will have his favorite target at receiver in Eric Decker available after being labeled as probable because of a lingering hamstring.
"Among the Jets still on the active roster, Ryan expects receiver Eric Decker (hamstring) to play against the Patriots, while he said receiver Greg Salas (wrist/ankle) probably won’t. Salas got hurt in the Broncos game, while Decker returned from a one-game absence. Decker was limited Tuesday for the second straight day. Salas did not practice for the second straight day.Decker was able to get a good bit of practice action Tuesday."
Decker’s hamstring hasn’t forced him to miss much time (missed Week 5 loss against San Diego), his play has been greatly affected due to the restriction caused by the injury.
Despite injury, Decker has remained the best receiver on the New York Jets and his presence will surely make things easier for the struggling Geno Smith, even if he’s being tailed by former Jet, now Patriots Darrelle Revis.
On the season, Decker has caught 20 passes for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns, leading the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
The New York Jets are currently 1-5 and fourth in the AFC East division.
