The Atlanta Braves offered the full-time general manager position to interim GM John Hart, but the former Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians general manager has declined the offer.

Atlanta Braves interim general manager John Hart won’t take over the full-time role and permanently replace Fran Wren as GM, Jeff Passan reports:

The Braves fired Wren last month after an epic September collapse saw Atlanta fall from the top of the NL East division to a record under .500, and Hart was named as interim GM, presumably to buy the franchise time to look for a proper replacement.

Moore began his career with the Braves, but the Royals surprisingly dominant playoff run might convince him to stay in Kansas City. Coppolella is also highly-regarded within baseball, and is already with the organization. If Moore does turn down the Braves, Coppolella is a heckuva consolation prize, and might be even better than Moore.

It’s unknown how long Hart will remain as interim GM. He was the longtime general manager of the Cleveland Indians during their run of dominance in the 1990’s, and was also the GM of the Texas Rangers after that and helped get the team back into relevance, and has little to prove as a GM, other than he can build a championship team (rings eluded him in both Cleveland and Texas). Prior to working with the Braves, Hart had been an analyst on MLB Network.
