With the NBA season less than two weeks away, we will take a look at the playoff contenders in the Eastern Conference. 

The NBA season is just weeks away. Everyone is hopeful of a successful season. What success means can change from team to team. Some teams view success as winning a title. Others view success as making it to the playoffs. Still others just want to win one more game than last year, and that is a successful season to them.

There were some changes that happened in the East. Some guy names LeBron went back home and left the Miami Heat and their bandwagon fans. Derrick Rose is back…again…hopefully for more than 10 games. Pau Gasol went from the purple and gold of Los Angeles to the black and red of Chicago. And Paul Pierce is now a Wizard.

Those changes caused an incredible change in the East. Whereas the last four years we knew who was going to represent the East even before the season started, we now have a legitimate race for the top spot, even if it is now just TWO teams.

Let’s take a look at the teams who will represent the East in the playoffs in the 2014 season.
