Apparently, NHL on NBC would like to know if ‘hockey has a place in the NHL’. Uhhh….

According to the Tweeter-er for NHL on NBC, the hot topic of the night is whether or not hockey still has a place in the NHL.

Okay, NBC, I know we’re on this new ‘anti-fighting kick’, so I can only assume that’s what this tweet is meant to be about. The real question, I’m sure, is ‘does fighting still have a place in the NHL?’, and that’s fair and also completely relevant and understandable.

What I can’t tell, though, is whether someone running the social media over at NHL on NBC is trying to make a statement (i.e., suggesting that fighting is hockey, and hockey is fighting), or is just a little drunk. It’s a Wednesday night, so I’m hoping with all my heart that they’re three sheets to the wind, because the closest I’ve come to drinking in the past month has been eating a Jack Daniels Burger at T.G.I. Fridays. Anyone who gets hammered and takes to their company’s social media on a Wednesday night deserves all the trophies in my book.

Of course, if they’re making a social statement about the correlation between fighting and the sport of hockey, I’m pretty okay with that too. I’d love to give Matt Cooke a black eye for what he did to Marc Savard a few years back- but if that’s the intent of the tweet, how much sassier and passive-aggressive can you get?

Either way, Twitter manager at NHL on NBC, call me. Let’s be friendz.
