Yet Another Extra-Innings Win – ALCS Game One

Extra-innings can be some of the most exciting times in baseball, but Kansas City had been feeling right at home after the ninth inning so far in the playoffs, and Game One of the ALCS in Baltimore was no different. After a tense struggle for nine innings, Kansas City cruised in extras once again.

The game had been tied, 5-5 since the bottom of the sixth, and went into extra innings. In the top of the 10th, left fielder Alex Gordo hit a solo shot off Orioles reliever Darren O’Day, and Moustakas followed later in the inning with a two-run home run, making the lead 8-5.

Baltimore scratched a run home in the bottom of the 10th from a Delmon Young single, but closer Greg Holland already had two outs, and got the last one to slam the door for an 8-6 Royals victory.
