Late Drama, But Royals End It in Ninth – ALCS Game Two

This time, the Royals were kind enough to Baltimore fans to not make them sit through another extra-innings loss. The score was deadlocked at four since the sixth inning, when the Orioles got a run on a fielder’s choice.

In the top of the ninth, Omar Infante reached on an infield single against O’Day, and Oriole’s closer Zach Britton relieved him. Moustakas bunted pinch-runner Terrance Gore to second base, bringing up Escobar. He doubled on a grounder inside the first base line to score Gone, and then came around on a Cain single to left field to give Kansas City a 6-4 lead.

Holland again took the ball in the ninth, and a leadoff walk to Adam Jones proved irrelevant as he once again shut the door, and stunned Baltimore to help the Royals seize home-field advantage, and a 2-0 series lead.
