Moustakas Dazzles With Glove, Royals Pitchers Do The Rest – ALCS Game Three

Despite rain delaying this game by a day, Yost decided to stick with Jeremy Gutherie as his starter, and once again, Yost came out looking like a genius in another close game, with the Orioles keeping stride with the Royals for nearly the entire game, but Kansas City’s pitching stifled Baltimore’s offense for a 2-1 win.

Moustakas, who hit four home runs in the ALCS, was particularly impressive with his leather, robbing Pearce of a single in the fourth, and then in the sixth, dove into his dugout to catch a pop foul from the dangerous Jones, helping Gutherie and the Royals bullpen keep the score tight. Baltimore scored first, off a Hardy double, but Yostball continued, and despite seven hits for the Royals in the game, both runs by KC were scored on outs: an Alex Gordon fielder’s choice in the fourth, and a Billy Butler sacrifice fly in the sixth.

The Royals were up in the series, 3-0, and ready to close it out.
