The Dallas Cowboys are off to their best start at 5-1 in several years but will Tony Romo and Demarco Murray play Sunday?

More from Dallas Cowboys

On Wednesday, neither Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray practiced for the Dallas Cowboys reported by Mike Florio. Romo missed practice not only due to a bad back, but also an ankle injury. Murray was held out of practice due to an undisclosed illness.

After defeating the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks in Seattle last Sunday, the Cowboys are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles and San Diego Chargers for the best record in the NFL.

Romo and Murray have both been a huge reason for the team’s success. Romo has thrown for 11 touchdowns and just five interceptions while Murray leads the league in rushing yards with 748 to go along with his six touchdowns.

DallasCowboys.com contributor David Helman reported that Murray and Romo were both out Wednesday, along with a few other Cowboys:

Although Murray has put the ball on the ground four times this season for the Cowboys, he has more rushing yards than 29 NFL teams. The Cowboys running back also has 21 receptions out of the backfield.

Many fans and experts think the Cowboys are the best team in the NFL through six weeks. Without Murray and Romo, they are just another average team.

The Cowboys (5-1) host the division-rival New York Giants (3-3) on Sunday afternoon.
