Brook Lopez is once again dealing with injury concerns and will miss nearly two weeks after re-injuring his right foot.

More from Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez hasn’t played a full NBA season since 2010-11, having missed 134 games over the last three seasons. He played in just 17 games last year before suffering a season-ending injury to his right foot in a December matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

That same foot has been re-injured and Lopez is expected to miss nearly two weeks, according to ESPN New York’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

"The Brooklyn Nets center did not suffer a fracture to the foot, which is very encouraging news for the team and its All-Star center. But if Lopez needs more than 10 days to recover, his status for the season opener at Boston on Oct. 29 could be in doubt. The Nets said Thursday that Lopez suffered “a mild right midfoot sprain” after being stepped on during the first quarter of the Nets’ preseason game against Sacramento on Wednesday. […]Lopez, 26, underwent two procedures on his right foot on Jan. 4 when he had surgery to repair a fractured fifth metatarsal and a first metatarsal osteotomy, in which another bone was repositioned in his foot to unload and protect the injured area."

Through three preseason games, Lopez is averaging 18 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 54.2 percent from the field. New Nets head coach Lionel Hollins, who had said health is the biggest issue facing an old Brooklyn squad this season, has already questioned Lopez’ on-court toughness this season. With all these injuries piling up, one could understand why Lopez might not want to bang bodies night in and night out.

Lopez figured to be a big part of a Nets team trying to get back to the playoffs. Hopefully for them Lopez comes to a full recovery and is ready to go  for most of the regular season.
