Minnesota Timberwolves forward Chase Budinger seems to be on his way out, as the team is now shopping him on the market with a few takers interested in making a deal.

Chase Budinger was brought on by former Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Rick Adelman to give the team a three-point threat on the wing. That philosophy has either changed or no longer exists as Flip Saunders has no need for Budinger other than to make him a trade chip.

More from Detroit Pistons

According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sports, the Houston Rockets and Detroit Pistons are two teams to keep an eye on in the Chase Budinger sweepstakes.

"Among talks with several teams, the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets have shown an interest, league sources said."

Woj further elaborates that Houston isn’t as willing to absorb Chase Budinger’s salary as Detroit might be.

"Houston is reluctant to take on the $5 million player option on Budinger’s deal in 2015-16, as are the Pistons, sources said. Nevertheless, the Pistons are taking a long look at Budinger and considering the possibility of making a deal. No trade is considered imminent for Budinger."

Chase Budinger isn’t a bad player, but he just doesn’t have a role with the new look Timberwolves. They have Andrew Wiggins ready to run at the two, Nikola Pekovic in the middle with Thaddeus Young taking up home on the wing. Budinger is the type of talent that can help a contending team or possibly put a bubble team over the top, and that’s why teams like the Pistons and Rockets are trolling the waters around a Budinger trade.
