Keys to Victory

Has anybody seen the Cincinnati Bengals’ defense? They went into their week 4 bye with a unit that was generally regarded as one of the best in the NFL. All they have done in the two games since is surrender 43 and 34 points, respectively. Their lack of push up front has left them with no pass rush and a leaky run defense. They have essentially been riding the ability Andy Dalton and the Bengals’ offense to keep up in shootouts; that is not the formula for the Bengals.

Andrew Luck might be the worst possible opponent for the Bengals right now. He is the leading passer in the NFL and is playing as well as anybody, even with a supporting cast that can be shaky at times. Given the play of these teams over the last two weeks, this sets up as a bad match-up for the Bengals on the road.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Colts -3
Moneyline: Colts -170, Bengals +150
O/U: 49.5

Prediction

The Bengals might get their defense back on track this season. They might still be a playoff team. But this is not the week for them, as a road match-up against Luck is just coming at the wrong time. No pass rush against Luck is no formula for success, and the Bengals will learn that lesson on Sunday.

Final Score: Colts 31, Bengals 21
